List of Engineering Colleges in India

Indian Engineering Colleges List One of the most widely practised academic subjects in India is engineering. Almost all science students hope to be successful engineers one day. However, choosing the best engineering institutions in India is where the difficulty begins. Students begin looking for the top engineering college in India after they receive their JEE Main rank and realise their goals. Based on India’s four zones—North, East, South, and West—we’ve compiled a list of the top engineering schools in the country. Along with the list of Btech/BE institutions in India, we also have a curated collection of details about these schools that address any and all potential questions posed by applicants.

The third-largest education system in the world is thought to be the one in India. Top engineering colleges and universities can be found in India, where they provide top-notch instruction in a variety of engineering specialties. More than a few thousand engineers are created in India each year. The number of engineering colleges has increased in tandem with the rise in the number of students who wish to be engineers.

Engineering is a field of study that uses science, technology, and math to create, develop, and maintain new machines, buildings, software, hardware, systems, and processes. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information & Technology (IIITs), and other top-rated institutes are among the list.

The fact that engineering offers a variety of job prospects across many industries makes it one of the most popular courses for students to pursue after high school, especially those from the Science stream.

Aspirants from India who are planning to take engineering courses can choose from almost 100 specializations. Some of them are given below:-

Engineering Courses and their Eligibility Criteria

After passing their 10+2 exams, science-stream students typically select this popular field, engineering. From being a building engineer to an aeronautical engineer, there are various career profiles. The placements make it one of the most sought-after degrees to take straight after high school, despite the difficult and extensive course. You can pick from more than 40 engineering specialities. For instance, a few of the most prevalent specialisations in engineering are:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Robotics Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Ceramic Engineering

Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Courses

Approximately 35 lakh students are enrolled in undergrad programmes at the more than 3,000 engineering institutes dispersed throughout India. All applicants at the undergraduate level have a choice of five engineering courses. The prerequisites for each of the five choices are detailed in the list below..

  • All applicants must have received at least a 60 percent overall score on their XII science exam in order to be considered for a BE or B.Tech.
  • All applicants for the B.Tech. Lateral Entry programme must have completed a three-year Diploma programme that has been approved by the technical examination board of any state and received a minimum overall grade of 45%.
  • ME or M.Tech. – There are two requirements that must be met before applying for a ME/MTech degree, namely having an undergraduate degree and scoring well enough on the GATE admission exam.
  • All candidates for the engineering diploma must have successfully passed their 10th grade or any other equivalency exam with a minimum score of thirty-five in all science and maths areas.

Admission Process for Engineering Courses

  • Candidates must pass a variety of entrance exams at the undergraduate level in order to enrol in their top-choice college. JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are two of the most popular entrance exams for engineering programmes, along with BITSAT, SRMJEEE, VITEEE, and MHTCET.
  • At the post-graduate level, candidates must pass only one exam to be admitted to their ideal college, and that exam is GATE.

About JEE Advanced 2023

JEE Advanced 2023: JEE Advanced 2023 will be administered by one of the IITs to the top 2,50,000 JEE Main 2023 qualifiers. According to trends, IIT Guwahati would most likely host JEE Advanced 2023 this year. The IIT will publish the JEE Advanced 2023 exam date, which is anticipated to occur in June 2023. Registration for JEE Advanced 2023 will open in May 2023. The updated JEE Advanced 2023 syllabus is available on the page below. The Advanced exam is a computer-based test that will be administered across the country on a national basis. On this page, you can find information about the JEE Advanced 2023 exam, including how to apply, eligibility requirements, exam dates, patterns, and more.

The only entrance exam that allows for admission to IIT’s undergraduate programmes leading to a bachelor’s degree, an integrated master’s degree, or a Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Science, or Architecture is JEE Advanced 2023. In addition to passing JEE Main, candidates must also pass Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced, a national-level exam, in order to join the ranks of IIT alumni. Around 2.5 lakh of the best JEE Main applicants each year are given a seat for this entrance exam. Any one of the seven IITs—IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee—or the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, which operates under the auspices of the Joint Admission Board—conducts the exam (JAB).

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority then uses a common procedure to offer JEE Advanced qualifying candidates seats in IITs based on their course preferences and JEE Advanced rankings. BTech, BS, BArch, BTech and MTech dual degree, BS and MS dual degree, Integrated MTech, and Integrated MSc are the courses that the IITs will be offering through JEE Advanced in 2023.
