Mr. N. J. Yasaswy (1950–2011), the founder of the ICFAI University Hyderabad and a forerunner in promoting higher education in the private sector, had a stellar academic record: B.Com (Andhra University 1969–First Rank), CA Inter (May 1971–First Rank), CA Final (May 1973–First Rank), ICWA Inter (July 1970–First Rank), and ICWA Final (July 1973–First (July 1972 – First Rank). Both The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (in 1972) and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India gave him the Basu Foundation Award for the Best Student of the Year (in 1973).
Mr. Yasaswy served as a faculty member at the Administrative Staff College of India from 1974 to 1980. He established Yasaswy Management Association (P) Limited in Hyderabad as his consulting business in 1981. The Andhra Pradesh government named Mr. Yasaswy to the positions of chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Trading Corporation (1985–88) and vice chairman of the Public Enterprises Management Board (1986-88). He was appointed as a member of the SEBI Committee on Accounting Standards while serving as a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (1986–88). He was on the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA), Switzerland, Board of Directors. He wrote several books on investing and money.
