Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Courses

- All applicants must have received at least a 60 percent overall score on their XII science exam in order to be considered for a BE or B.Tech.
- All applicants for the B.Tech. Lateral Entry programme must have completed a three-year Diploma programme that has been approved by the technical examination board of any state and received a minimum overall grade of 45%.
- ME or M.Tech. – There are two requirements that must be met before applying for a ME/MTech degree, namely having an undergraduate degree and scoring well enough on the GATE admission exam.
- All candidates for the engineering diploma must have successfully passed their 10th grade or any other equivalency exam with a minimum score of thirty-five in all science and maths areas.
Admission Process for Engineering Courses

Nationality
Candidates must be Indian citizens.
However, KEAM 2023 will also be considered open to Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). These applicants won’t be qualified for reservations.
Domicile
The following categories—Keralite, Non-Keralite Category I (NK I), or Non-Keralite Category II—must be met by candidates (NK II). The candidates will need to present specific documents to confirm their residency.

Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 2023 to qualify under the KEAM eligibility requirements for 2023.

Should have received a minimum overall score of 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or an exam of equal standing.
The candidate’s marks in computer science will be taken into consideration if they did not study chemistry during their senior year of high school. Additionally, if the applicant did not study both Computer Science and Chemistry, the authorities will take into account their performance in Biotechnology. Required Marks for KEAM Exam 2023
Candidates must have received a minimum of 45% overall in math, physics, and chemistry. It is the KEAM engineering qualifying score. Physics and mathematics are required while Chemistry is an elective.
Criteria for KEAM 2023 Eligibility: Keralite Category
- Candidates shall be labeled as Keralites if they are from Kerala initially.
- Children of All India Service (AIS) officers (Non-Keralites) assigned to the Kerala cadre will also be classified as Keralites, although such applicants will not be eligible for any fee discounts or reservations for communities, special populations, or people with disabilities.
KEAM Eligibility Criteria for Non-Keralite Category I (NK I) in 2023
Candidates who do not match the criteria for the Keralite category but do so nonetheless will be given consideration for admission under the Non-Keralite Category I. (NK I).
- Candidates who are not natives of Kerala but who finished grades 8 through 12 there.
- Candidates whose parents are not Keralites and who have been sent to Kerala by the Indian government or the military after passing their qualifying exams there.
- who have completed their qualifying education in Kerala and whose non-Keralite parents have worked for the Kerala government for at least two years.
- Candidates who reside in Kerala and have completed at least five of their twelve years of education there but are not natives of the state are also eligible.
KEAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria for Non-Keralite Category II (NK II)
- Candidates in this category would be eligible for admission to B.Tech programs offered by government-controlled self-financing institutions and private self-financing engineering based on government and management quota seats.
- Students should be aware that individuals falling under this category will only be admitted to the institutions listed above if no Keralite or Non-Keralite I (NK I) applicants are available.
- Students should be aware that candidates in this category will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/ Persons with Disabilities reservations or any fee concessions.
Note: In regards to positions reserved for the nominees of the Government of India, Administration of Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Administration, and Jammu & Kashmir, candidates who belong to any of the three categories listed above shall be admitted.
