Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a National-level entrance exam to pursue Post-graduation in the engineering field and enroll in research courses in top Institutes such as IITs, NITs, or IIITs.
IITs generally conduct this online exam on a rotational basis. However, for the year 2023, it is expected that IIT Kharagpur will conduct this examination.

There were 27 papers in total earlier, but now it is announced that two more papers, Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering and Geomatics Engineering, are added. The GATE exam was started more than 35 years before and it is conducting in the February by first and second week of the month.

GATE 2023 Application Eligibility

Some of the eligibility criteria that a candidate is expected to know before applying for the GATE examination are :

  • A candidate should have a university degree in engineering or a research course such as M.Sc.
  • There is no age limit to apply the GATE exam.
  • Final year students can apply the GATE exams to get admission into Top colleges.
  • Earlier student has option to apply only in one subject paper and it has been changed from the previous year, student can choose two subjects of paper as given combinations by the institution. * Earlier subjects were 27 and it has been increased with two more subjects and total of subjects are 29 now.

GATE 2023 Application Process

A student needs to apply for the GATE 2023 exam, student can apply through the official website and download their admit card after paying the online application fee. Generally GATE exam notification comes on official website in the month of July by 3rd week and application forms availability starts by September 2nd week. Admit card release by Jan 2nd week and expected exams date by Feb 2023 till 2nd week.  

Students need to appear for the exam based on the subject they have chosen.

After these results are announced (expected in March 2023), candidates can know their score and rank.

After the announcement of results, candidates are short-listed based on rank and can be called for counseling.

GATE 2023 Registration

The application form for GATE 2023 is expected to be released in September 2022; registration can be done through their website.

While filling the form, candidates will be asked for their details like academics and Contact details.
Registration fees have to be paid through an online payment.

Application fees for female candidates and ST/SC and OBCs are 750 INR and 1500 INR for General.

About GATE cut-off

The cut-off is the at least score required to get into top Institutes; different institutes have different cut-off scores.

Cut-offs are declared as soon as the results come out for all the papers.
